We made this packaging by playing with different combinations of graphic and print effects.
1. Silver foil lamination
The solid cardboard was laminated with silver foil before printing. The lamination gives the packaging a higher bearing capacity and mechanical resistance. The silver background gives a metallic look to the colours printed on it.
2. UV printing
Normal inks would smear on the foil. That's why we use durable UV inks that seal onto the foil creating a metallic effect.
The metallic appearance of the packaging can be removed in some places for additional visual variety. This is achieved by applying 100% white ink to selected parts of the packaging. This white ink is then overprinted with a coloured graphic that looks as if it had been printed on a plain white substrate.
3. Lamination on corrugated board
As the olive oil bottle is quite heavy, we increased the bearing capacity of the packaging with lamination.
