In case you were wondering: 'HOW DO I CHOOSE BETWEEN HOT FOIL PRINTING AND PANTONE METALLIC INK PRINTING?', we made a comparison of the two.
LET US EXPLAIN
Hot foil printing is an additional process in the packaging production. It gives the packaging a high gloss finish that creates a prestigious effect. It is more expensive because it requires an additional process. This also makes it a bit less sustainable, as it generates more waste and makes the packaging recycling process more difficult.
Pantone Metallic Ink printing is part of the printing process. It only increases the cost by as much as it costs to prepare the unit on the printing press with additional Pantone ink. The effect on the packaging itself is similar to hot foil printing, but less prestigious, as it does not have as high a gloss as foil.
We like to combine both types of printing with blind printing or folding to create an additional "WOW" effect.
They have some similarities and a few differences.
